Key Shop / Access Control

The Key Shop / Access Control division manages the University’s physical keying system and electronic access systems with the following as its main areas of emphasis:

  • Key System Administration: Control the production, storage, and issuance of University keys while maintaining accurate records and authorization tracking.
  • Locking Systems Management: Oversee the replacement, rekeying, and installation of lock cylinders and manage the acquisition of new keying systems.
  • Electronic Access Control Oversight: Manage the purchase, installation, and ongoing maintenance of campus-wide electronic access control systems.
  • Auxiliary Security Devices: Maintain responsibility for stand-alone access locks, alarm systems, and key boxes throughout University facilities.
  • Security Review and Approval: Ensure all locks and keys are reviewed and approved by the Key Shop prior to installation to preserve system integrity and security.
  • Policy Exception Coordination: Coordinate deviations from established campus security policies through written request and formal review by the University Police Department.
